biography

When Max takes the stage, he doesn't just sing; he's a storyteller on stage. He connects with his audience on a deep level, making every character he portrays come to life. His commanding presence and engaging performances make him a true virtuoso, and he is renowned for his dynamic presence and exceptional vocal talent in the world of opera.

Since returning back to North America, this past fall Max has performed one of his dream roles, The Count, in Le Nozze di Figaro with Buffalo Unlimited Opera, while in spring 2025 he will be debuting Mercutio in Romeo et Juliette with Bel Cantanti in Washington DC, before jumping right into another Schaunard in La Bohème with the Opera Company of Middlebury, in beautiful Vermont.

In past seasons he sang in two productions of Die Lustige Witwe, the first in Wuppertal, and the second with Theater Bonn in spring 2023, as well as singing in Eutin Festspieles Madama Butterfly, before returning to the stage with Theater Aachen in the spring of 2024, remounting their production of Carmen from the 21/22 season. Shortly after the pandemic Max was singing under contract with Theater Aachen from September 2021 until May 2022. He performed Morales in a new production of Carmen, followed by Cascada in Die Lustige Witwe, as well as understudy for Ping in Turandot. Whether he's playing the charismatic Morales in Carmen or the charming Cascada in Die Lustige Witwe, Max infuses every role with his personal touch. His journey isn't just about performances; it's about connecting with people, sharing stories, and leaving a piece of his heart on every stage. In between operatic contracts Max is happy to be back in Europe and to be performing Oratorio and recitals.

Operatic contracts in 2020 which were postponed and cancelled included Prinz Alo-Dino in a the new opera Nachtigall Tausendtriller with Theater Plauen, Einen Edlen in Lohengrin, and Cascada in Die Lustige Witwe, with Theater Zwickau.

In 2019 Max sung in Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera with the Eutin Festspiel in Germany, before traveling to North America for September and October to sing Baron Douphol in La Traviata with Opera de Quebec.

In 2017 and 2018 while with L’Opéra de Montréal Max was pleased with the many opportunities that came his way, where he performed five operas back to back, starting with Gregorio in Romeo et Juliette, then as The Sacristan in Tosca with Opera on the Avalon, his first of hopefully many Papagenos in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with Brott Opera, Marcello in La Bohéme with Highlands Opera, before being rehired by Opera de Montreal perform Marullo in the Opera de Montreal’s production of Verdi’s Rigoletto.
